With it being our last night of our honeymoon we wanted to go out with a bang and damn did we ever! This was the BEST meal we've had in Dublin!! The staff was amazing, the food was unreal and the beer even better.. We will definitely be back!!
To begin - let me say the food is absolutely incredible . What let me down was the small tables/ staff in-attentiveness/ the decor/ and the price tag.
I ordered the prawns for starters; but for 11 i felt the meal lacked size and creativity. The sauce was overbaringly spicy and too much garlic was added for my liking.
For mains i ordered the fillet, which couldnt be faulted. It was cooked incredibly, I have no complaints for the 34 euro hefty pricetag. But to me, good food is good food and I dont mind paying once the price coinsides with the taste!
To finish we all shared the sticky toffee pudding, brownie and lemon yogurt dish. All very nice, presentation decent, no complaints.
For food it was 4.5/5 for me.
But let me say why it went down in my books.
The furniture is very cheap. We were seated in the middle of the floor, there was 6 of us at a 4 person table. In all fairness - it was match day, but squashing people into a table is a big no in my books.
The match was being shown - and pop music like rihanna etc was being played (in a restaurant, a very expensive restaurant may i add??). I just didnt get it.
The service was very average, came and went when plates had to be cleaned. The table was so small we had to put the ice bucket on the floor which they barely even acknowledged.
The decor was very like a pub. Sqaushed people, loud music, busy atmosphere.
If im going to pay the money like im in a restaurant, theres things i expect while in a restaurant. (in my opinion!)
If the price was decreased that little bit - itd be my go to spot. Something just has to be do to coinside the atmosphere with the pricetag.
But excellent excellent food.
I have been here twice recently for Sunday lunch with the family. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The menu is simple and everything so far that we have had has been top rate. The children's menu is fresh and tasty. Recently the kids had fish and chips. The fish was fresh and the batter light and crispy and just the right portion for them. I would however like to see a veg portion offered with the fish and chips even it it's just peas.
I love the different types of gin and tonic on the menu and the way they are served. If you like a G & T this place has to offer the best varieties in town and the way they are served is beautiful.
The wine list certainly offers variety and value. What I especially love is the fact that many of the wines are offered by the glass, which is very handy if you are having lunch and don't fancy a full bottle.
On both occasions I have had the ribeye steak as my main and it has been excellent. Cooked to perfection with a lovely peppercorn sauce. It's huge by the way. Overall this place is certainly worth a visit and I can't wait to try it some evening without the kids.
